Hi, this is Zach Preminger, developer of The Finger, and I’m excited about all the different uses we’re finding for this product! This blog is the place where we can tell each other how The Finger has helped us in different ways, and share other good organizing ideas. The Finger is designed to stick to any hard surface, and its shape allows it to hold papers or light items you slip under it. Stick & Slip!

Today’s tip: Stick a Finger to the side of your fridge to hold your grocery list and coupons for your next shopping trip. Put up another Finger for the weekly store flier, and all your grocery shopping materials will be neatly organized and in one convenient place! When it’s time to go shopping, just slip them out and go on your way. This works great for us!

One of our friends put a few Fingers on the wall in her laundry area. Before tossing shirts, pants or skirts with pockets into the washer, she checks through the pockets, and often finds pieces of paper, cash, credit cards, etc. She slips these items under a Finger for safekeeping. Our friend also keeps a few spare bowls on a shelf for any small, solid items, like coins, keys, and the like. Family members have learned to check the laundry area for anything that may be missing. There are different colored Fingers for each person, and each bowl is labeled with a person’s name. You could also write each person’s name on The Fingers with a permanent marker. Now there’s a place for the pockets’ contents, and nothing gets washed accidentally, or gets caught in the machinery! This idea can actually save the cost of repairing a washer (or dryer, if it gets that far). Finally, our friend uses one more Finger to keep her guide for treating different laundry stains handy. The Finger strikes again!

Hi, it’s Zach. Here’s an idea that should appeal to any school age kid – give your teacher The Finger! Yeah – I hear all the chuckling out there – that’s not what I meant! I mean – give your teacher The Finger as a gift! The Finger is a plastic clip that sticks practically anywhere, and you can slip papers under it. Stick and slip! Even in the digital age, teachers still have a lot of papers to deal with, and The Finger is a great idea to help them get organized. A row of Fingers over the desk can help to sort the memo slips, permission slips, reminders, and other flotsam that teachers end up accumulating. They can use The Finger to keep that popular chart or diagram handy so they don’t have to sift through the rest of their stuff when they need it. The Finger is a nice idea for a thoughtful gift to give your favorite teacher when the school year is coming to a close. Just think – If you give your teacher a bag of Fingers, you can count on getting an A in Gift Giving!

Hi everyone, Zach here. Have you ever been zapped with a late fee on a bill because you forgot to pay it? Did you forget to pay it because the bill was buried in a pile of papers somewhere? I know it’s happened to me, and some of you out there are nodding your heads, too. Besides being costly, you have to admit it makes you a little angry with yourself. So, here are a few solutions to this problem. First, if you’re still receiving paper bills, keep them all in one place, and put each one there as soon as you open your mail. A good place is one of those small accordion files, the size that’s a little larger than a business envelope. They usually have about a dozen pockets in them, which you can use to sort the bills by month, or alphabetically. From there, you can move paid bills for record-keeping to a folder in a file cabinet drawer, and shred the bills you can toss. Always shred – the info on your bills is nobody else’s business. Keep the accordion file on your desk where it is always available to pop in new bills. Another item that can keep bills together is a small memo rack with about 3 or 4 dividers. Even a small plain napkin holder can do the job, if you only have a small number of bills.

Some companies will send monthly statements by email, and they usually give you the option to have the payment automatically withdrawn from a checking account. If you’re not comfortable with that, most banks and credit unions have free online bill paying available where you set up the payments. You can even set up automatic payments for bills that are the same amount each month. If you have opted for e-bills from your creditors, it will cut down on paper clutter, but be sure to check your email regularly so you don’t forget to pay them.

You can also put up a Finger over your desk and slip a bill under it for filing later, or to keep in front of you in case you need to contact the company about your bill. I wrote CALL, with a permanent marker, on The Finger I use for that purpose. Always examine your bills when you get them, and question anything you don’t understand or agree with. Believe me, I’ve saved myself some bucks catching mistakes like charges I didn’t make, misapplied payments, incorrect interest rates, fees I didn’t deserve, etc. If you do incur a late fee because you forgot about the bill, you should always call and appeal to a customer service rep. Sometimes they will waive the fee and remove it from your balance if you’re nice and otherwise have a good payment record. It worked for me!

When you need a good, useful gift for someone, and it needs to be in the “economical” category, why not give them The Finger? No! – not what you’re thinking!

The Original Finger is the clever “stick and slip” clip, and a bag of Fingers makes a great gift that helps people get organized. The Finger is such a “handy” item (sorry for the pun!), that most people will be very glad they received some, as they discover how useful The Finger really is. At first, they might think “what am I going to do with all of these Fingers?”, but as they find more and more uses for them, they’ll find themselves running out of Fingers!

A great use for The Finger is to put one on the refrigerator to hold the grocery list. As you add to the list, it’s easy to slip it out and slip it back under The Finger. Another Finger on the fridge can hold the store’s weekly circular, keeping it from cluttering up the counter. As you go about your daily routine, you’ll get other ideas for using The Finger. Please share them with us and your gift recipients!
